Is located in the middle of Central Anatolia and is the second largest lake of Turkey after VAN Lake.
And it is at the category of tectonic lakes. It joins with borders of Konya-Aksaray Ankara; Highway No. E-5 passes near North East and East coasts the Lake.
The lake which expands towards South becomes narrow to North and a gulf is created at Northern section. Its area is 12000 km2; elevation is 905 m.; 80 km. long, 48 km. wide. The Salt Lake is not fed with important rivers. Melendiz Brook which comes from Melendiz Mountains at south of the Lake and passes through Aksaray ends at marshes to south of the Lake, tnsuyu Brook which comes from plateau of Cihanbeyli/Konya arrives at South of the Lake.
Salt Lake however has been fed from bottom through salt water spring. The lake becomes completely dry by the end of summer due to evaporation in summer. A 30-35 cm. thick layer of salt remains after evaporation. Beneath this layer of salt a muddy soil forms.
It is possible to walk over the lake in summer.Great majority of salt needed by Turkey has been provided from the Salt Lake. The main reason for this is that there is a higher rate of salt as 329 gr. in one liter water. Salt produced by fields of salt has been shipped to various regions of Turkey.

Ihlara is reached by taking the left turn at the 58th km of Nevsehir-Ankara road and then driving on for another 40 km.
It is possible to take a short-cut from Derinkuyu. This 40 km road directly takes you to Ihlara. The valley of Ihlara attracts thousands of visitors today with its 150 m deep gorge carved out by the Melendiz river over centuries. There are hundreds of churches and many natural sights along the valley.
A mummy of a virgin girl was found in this valley in 1969, now at display at the Museum of Nigde. The Ihlara river runs in the direction of Belisirma, Yaprakhisar and Selime. The most beautiful of the churches along this valley are:
1 – Yılanlı (Snake) Church
2-	Agagalti Church (Beneath the Tree)
3-	Sumbullu (Hyacinth) Church
4-	Kirk Dam Alti Church (of the Forty Roofs)
5-	Bahattin Samanhgi Church (of Bahattin’s Straw Loft)
YILANLI (SNAKE) CHURCH
The church is in the form of a long cross and to the western section is a cleaned up tomb. On the wall on the same side are paintings of Weighing of the Souls – representing Archangel Michael weighing sins and good deeds. Just to the right of this is the representation of sinful people assaulted by snakes. On the dome is the depiction of Jesus and angels and on the southeastern side is the Dormition of Mother Mary. Along with these are the Last Supper and the portraits of Mother Mary and some saints.
AGACALTI CHURCH (BENEATH the TREE)
This cruciform church is dated to a period earlier than the others. However, the paintings are in good state, directly in front of the entrance is St Daniel with two lions at his side and on the ceiling is a dragon.
SUMBULLU (HYACINTH) CHURCH
This church is also cruciform and its paintings are dated back to the 14th century.
KIRK DAM ALTI CHURCH (of the FORTY ROOFS)
Some of the incidents mentioned in the Bible are depicted in this church. The murder of Zaccharias is also depicted here.

Ahlat is a district of Bitlis provision and has been located 1750 m elevation from the sea on East Anatolian Region.
Since there has not been any certain research its foundation date has not exactly been known. However, as the results of archeological excavations scarried out in the Yuvadami region which 15 km away from Ahlat many findings have been brought to light which are dated to bronze and iron ages in between, 3000 and 1200 B. C. However, all these studies could not inform of exactly about the foundation date of Ahlat.
It is known that Ahlat had been taken under control by Asurs, Urartus, Persians, Macedonians, Romans, the Byzantines, Seljuk Turks and the Ottomans in sequence. The town is known as the first settlement of Seljuk Turks which had entered Anatolia in 1054. Athough there are some different stories about the origin of Ahlat name, it had been called as Khat, Hilat and Ahlat in the periods of Armanians, Suryanians, Iranians, Arabians and Turks.
As against to these, many historians have claimed that Ahlat name has come from the wold ‘Halatun’ means ‘mixed society’ in Arabic. In East Anatolia, this town has been blended with various kinds of cultural values and so it is like an open – area museum. Domestic and foreign , tourists coming here visit the wonderful buildings such as bridge, grove, dome, mosque, palace which have been constructed with the famous yellow stones of the region by the consecutives of the famous Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan.

The Northen Aegean is largely spared the torrents of tourism that wash upon the southern shores. The swimming season is shorter, the resorts are mainly geared to the needs of Turkish families on school holidays. Go in the second half of September, and you are likely to have glorious beaches of heavenly azure all by yourself.
A recently emerged destination is the half dozen pretty hill villages dotting the southern slopes of Kazdağı,or Goose Mountain, looking from afar on the stores of the Gulf of Edremit. The small country hotels of Kazdağı,all built and run by urbanites, set the trend for a new Turkish country “look” Assos is another memorable locality that brings together striking topography with ancient ruins and a primitive village. A series of more or less virgin coves and fishing harbours lie along the step coast west of Assos.

Tourists Istanbul is centred on Sultanahmet Square. The great momuments of two empires, the Hagia to a colourful touristville of cafes, small hotels, carpet shops and antique dealers.Twenty years ago this used to be no man’s land; now it is a pleasant, and increasingly sophisticated, district with a small town feel and little car traffic. The baazar is a short walk away,Eminönü,transport hub of Istanbul, is a quick hop down the hill.
The modern heart of the city beats on the order side of the Halic,Istiklal Street and the warren of 19th century alleys branching from it are where the crowds go for their evening stroll and movie date, but for really sophisticated shopping and dining you would probably venture further north to the post districts of Nisantası,Etiler,Levent and Maslak.

One of the magnificent historical structures of Istanbul is Baslilica Cistern in the southwest of Hagia Sophia. The esnormous undergroung cistern was built by Byzantine Emperor I.Justinianus and thanks to marble columns rising from the water level and seeming like countless in number, it was named “Yerebatan Sarnıcı” among public.Ottoman conquest of Istanbul in 1453 and the gardens of Topkapı Palace where the sultans lived were watered through this cistern. Two Medusa heads used as the bases of two columns in soutwestern part of the Cisterns are masterpieces of sculpture art in Roman Period. Ot is not known where these Medusa heads were taken and brought in the cistern, yet thet are the ones attracting visitors most. The cistern, like in the pas,has been goging on its survival adventure with fish everywehere.Visitors here in the cistern to see the Medusa head and accompany of fish of and a somoothing music. Moreover, combined with the atmosphere of the cistern in a perfect restaurant.

There is Yazılıkaya at 1 km east of Bogazkale which is 30 km far from Yozgat. When you go up to 2 km. east of Bogazkale there appears before you the famous Hatuşas. Remains. Name of Hatuşaş is know to come from “Hattis” lived in Anatolia long before Hittites. Likewise, it is thought that Hittites had established the city of “Kusarsa” about 4000 years before Alacahoyuk. Alacahoyuk, Hatu$aş and Yazihkaya are cities of Hittite close to one another. The God Sharuma, the King IV Tudhalia and pictures of twelve gods are seen on “Yazihkaya” dated XIII Century B.C.
The first excavation at Hatuşaş was performed in 1906 by Hugo Winhler and Theodor Rakidish. The 2nd excavations however which have been commenced at Hatuşaş, Alacahoyuk and Yazihkaya since 1930 upon the order of Ataturk by Prof. Dr. Remzi Ank have been continued until now. Among marvelous works which were found at such periodic excavations is the tablet of the Famous “Kadesh” Piece Agreement. Two large lion statue on top oi the platform at Hatuşaş hill which points at the entrance of castle of city had been placed at the same time as the symbolic protectors of the city. There are some rooms inside the Castle. Magnificent works of art found from the excavations have been exhibited today in Ankara Ancient Anatolian Civilizations Museum.

Located on the larger one of the two islands 4 kilometres far away from the southern coast of Van lake, Akdamar church was built by Armenian Vaspurakan King I. Gagik in 915. The chapel in the North eastern direction of the church was built in the early 14th century. It has got a plan in the form a clover with four leaves. It is covered with a pointed dome whose
Cylinder stones are high. It has an interesting appearance with the reliefs surrounding the hewn stones. On the southern wall with an entrance door there are some reliefs depicting a fish swallowing the prophet Yonah, the prophet Christ and the Virgin Mary, the war between the prophet David and Goliat, the Saints on the eastern wall, the Adam and Eve expelled from Heaven on the northern wall, the prophet Ibrahim sacrificing his son to God and on the western wall the King I. Gagik holding a model of the church in his hand, the prophet Christ and the Angel. Restoration activities have been going on in the said area.

According to the belief; the ship of Nuh prophet has sit on the top of the mountain. There have not been any solid trace about the accuracy of this story which have reached at today with so many questions. This mountain has an altitude of 5137 m and is the highest peak of the little Asia. Mount Ararat has attracted skillful alpinists since XVlll. Century A.C. It is called as Ararat in the period of Urartus at IX. Century B.C. The East side of the mountain are included in the Iran and Armania frontiers. The alpinists coming from all over the world prefer to climb it by using Igdir and Dogubeyazit side which are in the side of Turkey. At the East side of the mountain, Turkey, Iran and Armania frontiers have been drawn.
On the South foot of the mountain, at a point close to Gurbudak frontier, the famous Ishak Paşa Palace has been located which has been build in 1784 in order to control the caravans passing from there.
